All-Star Committee Posting Freak The Players' Tribune
Your day, your way
Less than 24h before the draft, Pierre Laroche-Durocher uses the Player's Tribune yet another time to express his feelings towards the draft, although he does it in a very unique way: with poetry.
"Draft day is coming And your heart is racing Your palms are sweating Time flashes like lightning Excited yet fearing You want to be made king The wait's goes on and on, excruciating You hope they call your name Earlier to go to fame Or later without shame Only to play the game You hear it and exclaim Your joy bursts into flames And for that no-one can throw blame But who will it be? Where will you write your destiny Nobody can foresee Who'll make you their draftee A team inland or nearing the sea The one you loved as a pee-wee Anything will do really Playing is what makes you happy To the Armada you may go All winter in glorious snow There as a player you will grow Until you get to the big show The Raptors are another way A team that you dare not betray No you couldn't dare run away 'Cause where else would you rather play Maybe you'll become a Falcon With them you will show your talent You'll be living from your passion It's as good as eating bacon How 'bout going to the Raiders That's a great group of skaters There you will find such great trainers They make the best from their players For honor you could be a Knight Give it your best every night Always firing up that red light In Kelowna, history you'll write The Militia in Montreal Where you could rise far above all At the top you will stand tall Where no harm on you can befall Don't forget you might be a Scarecrow A team where you will shine and glow Shoot for the stars like an arrow Awards to you people will throw Then finally in Vancouver You would become a Whaler You'll bust your ass to get better And you'll make it, that's a no-brainer This point here I'm trying to make Is no matter whose hand you'll shake Thinking it matter's is a mistake It's not going to be a piece of cake The road you take will make you shake But if you put in what it will take The hockey world you'll overtake So on the morrow go and enjoy And when you find to whose employ You'll be then let out all your joy Like when you were a little boy Who opened up his Christmas toy Happiness nothing can destroy" -Pierre Laroche-Durocher [403 words] [x2 draft-related bonus] |
