raiders Halifax Raiders vs St. Louis Scarecrows Scarecrows
Day 15 Game 34

Hello hockey fans, the United States and Newfoundland. Tonight we bring to you a recap of two teams facing very different starts to their seasons.  The Halifax Raiders are off to a surprising start with a record of 5-3-0 coming into tonight’s game. Their opponents the St. Louis Scarecrows are off to a rather disappointing start with a 1-6-0 record. Halifax are the favourites after a dominating performance and shutting St. Louis out last game. St. Louis will need to come out playing if they want any hope at salvaging this early season and putting themselves into playoff contention.

Period 1

The opening period St. Louis is dominating, they come out flying directing shot after shot towards Geezus Kryst. Face off in the Scarecrows end sees the Raiders win the initial draw but, Quinn Cullen is bodied by Rowdy Smithers. The play chases down the other end, Daniel Karlsson with the puck passes to Nicholas Williams, he takes the shot and buries it!

The remainder of the first is a pretty even affair as the 1st draws to an end. An errant pass by Gordie Maple is intercepted by PLD sending Leshaun King streaking up the ice. King with the dish to Quinn Cullen as he takes a stride before burying the shot. We have a tie game!

With the first period coming to a close we have both teams locked at 1-1, shots are 7 for Halifax and 8 for St. Louis. Halifax is 0/2 on the PP with St. Louis 2/2 on the PK.

Period 2

The second period another low scoring affair. Both teams aren’t able to muster up much offence. We see poor shot attempts being taken by both teams as they fail to convert on any of their chances. The game starts to open up though, we see both teams become undisciplined with two penalties each. The intensity ramps up as both teams search for that go ahead goal. The physicality is on full display in the 2nd as both of these teams are battling hard. Hit after hit, these opponents are trying to wear each other down. St. Louis will not break, with only 3 shots they’re looking frustrated they are bending at the moment but holding on. St. Louis manages to claw their way out of the second being outshot 5-3 and outhit 7 to 4. Both teams are 2/2 on the PK as they head to the locker room.

Period 3

Halifax putting on the pressure in the opening minute takes another undisciplined penalty. St. Louis putting everything towards the net. Halifax fights back with a good PK, PLD limping on the ice after a tough shot block he is stuck on the ice and can’t get off, another shot comes in PLD AGAIN blocking it, he crumbles to the ice as his left leg looks dead. St. Louis is swarming.. they pick up the loose puck, Lil Manius lets off a quick wrister, it finds the back of the net! St. Louis with the go ahead goal for the second time of the night.

Minutes later, Halifax ices the puck. St. Louis wins the ensuing draw and holds onto the puck. The shots directed at the net are nothing dangerous, Lil Manius deflects Steven Moyers shot. It goes wide but Manius is determined and retrieves the loose puck squaring it up and rifles it home!

St. Louis retakes the lead for the third time tonight showing no quit. Halifax pushing hard to tie the game, another careless penalty sees Halifax go a man down and their chances at tying the game all but vanish. St. Louis gets revenge after their 2-0 defeat to Halifax and earning themselves their second win of the season.  The shots finish at 14 Halifax and 17 St. Louis.  Both teams go 3/3 on the PK and 0/3 on the PP.
