Montreal will be looking to build off another solid draft class heading into the 43rd season. A lot of the rookies that came in during Season 42 are a lot more skilled and a lot more experienced. I do not expect the Militia to be limping to the playoffs in the sixth seed this season. Below are a few of the key factors that will help set Montreal apart this season.
Elder Statesmen - While there have been a few call-ups recently, Montreal remains a strong team. Two key pieces to their success this year will be Winger Rafe Ulrich and Charlie Schieck. Heading into their third and probably final Junior season, expect big things from these guys. If the Militia are to have any shot at the Four Star Cup this season, these two will be a huge factor. The Sophomores – Season 42 had one of the largest Junior drafts in history. Montreal struck big on a lot of their picks. This group is very dedicated and are helping each other improve daily. Brogen, Hudson, Pivonka, Kazarian, Raanteli, Vrana, and others are entering their second season. Ulrich and Schieck will be leaning heavily on these guys to get the job done. It will be interesting to see how the new batch of rookies mesh with this group but all signs are positive right now. Leadership – While there was a GM change during the offseason, the presence of Keygan and Er is still felt all over this team. Their hard work and dedication over the past few seasons cannot be understated. If Montreal wins a Cup this season, part of the reason will be because those guys set us up for success. Not taking anything away from our new leadership who I am very excited to play for. But they inherited a solid group in Montreal. |
