PGS S44 Game 2: Halifax vs Detroit

![]() Registered processed. This is your post game breakdown for Game 2:
![]() ![]() First of all let's get to the crucial stats for anyone that didn't get to see all the (albeit, predominantly one sided) action. Your final score this evening is 6-2 for the home team, and unfortunately for any of the Nova Scotian's tuning in to tonight's broadcast the statistics aren't going to be much kinder from here on in.
Before we get to the period by period breakdown let's present our 3 Star's for this evening:
At 3rd star, with 2 assists we have from the Falcons, Bedrich Sykora! @AnthonyOuellet
![]() At 2nd star, with a goal and an assist we have from the Falcons, Marc Palicka! @BaseScoutX1
![]() And at 1st star, with a goal and an assist we have from the Falcons, Pingy Pingu! @Pingy Pingu
![]() First Period
Well the visitors started off strong, capitalising on Xavier Cross's roughing penalty 6:58 in and Crush Cile converting on the power play off a one timer. The Raider's could only hold onto the lead for just over a minute however, with Poopity Scoop equalising off a rebound block from Pierre Laroche-Durocher. Call it unfortunate, but Pierre was on the ice for 5 of Detroit's goals this evening. Might be coincidental, but he might need to put in a few extra hours at the gym over the next coming weeks given his performance.
The next 8 minutes don't get much better for the defence, with Detroit potting in another 3 goals thanks to Eero Makinen, Dank Boija and Marc Palicka. Goaltender Nathan Cosco earned himself the rest of the night off after this, and was relieved by backup ZzSnoop Lion to try and quell the onslaught that the Raider's were receiving. The one saving grace is that Halifax managed to successfully complete a penalty kill halfway through the period, but the stats are cruel otherwise. Final shots for the period were 10 to 14.
Second Period
This period was much better for the visitors and the coach must have given them a solid talking to in the intermission after the farce of the first. Maximilian Egger capitalised off a rebound to cut the lead to 2, and there wasn't much else to write home about in this one. Both teams served a penalty in the period and both killed them respectively. Shame Halifax couldn't find a further leg up in the period, and it made for a good time for the fans to go and relieve themselves and refill their drinks. Final shots for the period were 11 to 5.
Third Period
After capitalising in the second period to bring themselves back into the game slightly, Halifax completely dropped the ball in the third. Conceding another 2 goals and having almost no offence to show, it was almost like they had checked out and were looking onward to their next game. Pingy got his goal that earned him his first star for the night and Xavier made up for his first period indiscretions with one for himself too. Decent game for the home fans to watch, but a shame for ay of the travellers. Final shots for the period were 3 to 9.
Tonight's Final Thoughts
With final shots at 24 to 28, it seems like Halifax just couldn't get over the hurdle that Detroit's defence posed. Had they been able to breakthrough and force a third in the second period, maybe there would have been more to write about, but as it is Detroit came away with the win and deservedly so. The coach will be happy with his teams performance, but maybe will consider that luck was on his side for a majority of the night.
Thanks for tuning in and we will see you next time for another breakdown!
