Comment 1: Four Star Cup Preview?
This far into the season, most experts will say that the Vancouver Whalers and Detroit Falcons are the two favorites for the Four Star Cup. The Whalers of course, are the reigning champions and have retained most of their cup-winning core from last season. The Falcons also have an experienced squad, are have been lighting up the SMJHL this season. If this game was any indication, and playoff matchup between these two teams will be fast-paced and exciting hockey. The play of Falcons goalie Cedric Robinson was the difference tonight, but who knows what might happen in the playoffs.

Comment 2: Physical Player of the Game
Benois Miniscule, defenseman for the Vancouver Whalers, was a physical monster tonight, dishing out a game high 4 hits. Despite what his name might suggest, Miniscule is a big boy, standing 6 foot 6 inches and weighing 221 pounds. He was an especially intimidating presence on the Whalers blueline tonight, nullifying Detroit attacks at ease with his physical play. He also contributed on the score sheet, with primary assists on both of Vancouver's goals. Detroit's most physical player on the night was Poopity Scoop who put up 4 hits and 1 shot block in just over 15 minutes of action.

Comment 3: Special Teams Battle
Detroit came out on top in the special teams battle, and that was a huge reason why they won this game. They picked up two penalties in the first period which was dominated by the Whalers. And while Vancouver scored on their first powerplay, the Detroit PK came up big on the second to keep the score tied at 1. Then in the second period, with the score tied at two, Detroit finally got a powerplay and Tig Murphy scored just 6 seconds in to take the lead. Late in the third period, Detroit were on another powerplay and this time, Hippo Passamus found the back of the net to seal the win for the Falcons.
