PGS S44 Game 77: Montreal vs St. Louis
#1

Militia Montreal Militia vs. St. Louis Scarecrows Scarecrows
Now, let’s go to St. Louis to take a look at tonight’s matchup between the Montreal Militia and the St. Louis Scarecrows.  After a rough start to the season, Montreal has turned their play around and are now in the thick of the playoff hunt. The Scarecrows however, started off hot and have maintain  their excellent play, and are one of the top teams in the league. They are starting backup goalie Willis Vincent tonight, as they look to give normal starter Alester Cain a break.

1st Period
Just a couple minutes into the game, Montreal’s Dinars Briedis takes a bad interference penalty, putting the Scarecrows on the powerplay. St. Louis go to town on the powerplay, and Steven Moyer tips home a shoot in front of the net to give the Scarecrows the early lead. The Scarecrows don’t let up the pressure, but Montreal keeper Vrana comes up big to keep the game close. The period ends 1-0, with the Scarecrows dominating the shot battle 14-6.

2nd Period
The second period starts how the first ended, with the Scarecrows dominating the pace of play, but it’s Monreal who would find a goal first. Midway through the period, Daniel Daniil was sprung on a breakaway by Jeff Brogen, catching the Scarecrows on a bad change, and Daniil was able to pot home his 4th goal of the season. Freeman and Williams both had great changes to score for St. Louis, but neither were able to beat Vrana. Shots for the period were 11-4 in favor of St. Louis.

3rd period
Less than a minute into the period, St. Louis gets a powerplay but are unable to capitalize. This costs them, as shortly after, Mason Hudson finds the back of the net to give Montreal the lead. However, the Scarecrows get their chance to tie it up with Briedis in the box for the second time, and this time, Kiko Ritemyr gets the powerplay tally. Assists were given to Bernard Freeman and Jerry Larry. This game seemed to be headed to OT, as both teams were playing rather conservatively. However, out of nowhere, Gareth ‘The Notorious’ Rush sniped home a beauty, top cheese, to give St. Louis the go ahead marker with a minute left. Montreal were unable to recover from the shock, and that was it for tonight’s game. The Scarecrows were the better team on the night, and came away with a much deserved win.

Final Score
Militia 2-3  Scarecrows
