TASK 1: (Written, 3 TPE)
Choose one team in the series and talk about the steps they took to make the finals. Was it a free agent signing, or an MVP player, or trades, etc. Must be 150 words. The Winnipeg Jets, coming off a disappointing playoff run that ended with the Platoon lifting the cup, added Stud Defensemen Spitfire. This addition balanced out the backend of the Winnipeg Jets and managed to solidify the entire team. Spitfire allowed versility in pairings, since Spitfire could play on the first or second pairing, on the left or the right side. It allowed the coaching staff to move players around, giving combination such as Grease-McClure and Spitfire-Weber. Without this addition, the Jets may have had a different outcome this season. Spitfire basically took the spot of Viatcheslav Orlov, who was a serviceable defensemen but was no stud by any standards. Orlov managed 11 points in the run prior, where as Spitfire managed 13, in the same amount of games played. The team matured, and maybe even lost a step via regression, but Spitfire helped lead the Winnipeg Jets to the cup! TASK 3: (Written, 3 TPE) In 150 words or more write about the top highlight of your season. whether it be your first goal, your first hat trick, first shutout, clinching playoffs, getting a career high in something, etc. Must be hockey related. Troy McClure III had a great season compared to his Rookie season with with Winnipeg Jets. The highlight that comes to mind would be my first goal as a Winnipeg Jet. Mostly everybody, including a rookie with 150 less tpe then me, had already scored. The monkey was on my back. Scoring wasn't the reason I was drafted, it isn't a big part of my game. I'll block more shots then i'll take every season. But I was up to 88 games played counting the playoffs, without a goal in the SHL. But a big slapshot from the point changed that. It helped me as a player gain a huge bump on confidence, and even with us losing the game, I finally managed to get that goal and concentrate on my game again. Thankfully I am on a team that can carry out the goal scoring and they can depend on me to take the body and block a few shots. TASK 4: (*CASUAL MEMBER SPECIAL* Send answer in PM, 3 TPE) Question: Before the start of the game little tammy threw 4 reese's peanut butter cups on the ice. 2 of them were skated over and crushed! (Ohhh No!!!)... how many peanut butter cups were NOT skated over? ** Note: To receive credit for this task you must send the answer to me by forum PM. Do not post the answer in this thread as you will not get credit... Please make the subject of the PM “CW Special” [Earn up to 3 TPE for this task. 1 TPE for participation, 2 additional TPE for the correct answer] PM SENT TASK 6: (Written, 3 TPE) In an effort to improve the product, the league has asked an outside source to look over the playoff lineups and determine which teams could have performed better.. Come up with a new set of lines for one of the teams eliminated in the playoffs, and explain why you made the choices you did. Must be at least 150 words. While they had an amazing run, the platoon may have won the cup back to back if they made the following changes. 1.) The top line is fine, but change the ice time % from 40 to 35. Our research shows that towards the end of the periods they are getting short shifted due to fatigue. 2.) Leave the second line alone. 3.) Give the 3rd line a 5% bump, from 20 to 25. Change the strategy to 2-2-1. 4.) The defensive pairings, switch Ross and Kirby. 5.) Change the top pairing to 1-3-1. Research indicates that throwing hits causes issues for the top line on the other team. 6.) Leave this line alone 7.) Change the strategy to 4-0-1. If it moves, you hit it. And hit it hard. 8.) Bottom pairing goes 0-0-5 to match the bottom line strategy. These changes would force the opposite team to basically score only in transition. Ot would slow the game down with a lot more icings but force the other team to skate more and get hit more. Code: Task 8: (Written, 3 TPE) Pick up to 3 topics below to write about! Each topic is worth '1' TPE. Each answer must be 50 words or more. 2. Which GM in the finals do you believe has the tactical/Managerial advantage and why? Flappy has like 6 coaches and at least 12 different friends that helps him adjust his lines. He ran so many test sims that it was amazing he could even remember the changes. He would run funny 5-0-0s or 0-0-5s. But in the end he would line match very well and it gives him an advantage. Last playoff it didn't work out, but this one it did so it is very close. 3. Between Beaujeaux Biscuit and Artom Zhumbayev which star goalie has the advantage over the other in this series? Being teammates with Zhumbayev, I want to say him, but only a complete fool bets against Biscuit. Biscuit is the best goalie in the league, and while Big Z is very good, biscuit is technically better. With that being said, Biscuit is also starting to regress, as they couldn't carry the platoon this year like last year. 5. You want to buy tickets, hotel stay and airfair for one of the games in this series and you have to decide between a trip to West Kendall or Winnipeg.. what city did you choose and why? While the Jets made West Kendall it's second home stadium this year, the atompshere in Winnipeg is unmatched. It isn't a big arena, but it is the loudest one by far. I'd rather sit in a Jets game then a platoon game anyday. The jets have better fans, a better arena and a better team. Also snow is better then old people. Task 9: (Graphic, 3 TPE) Theres a tattoo parlor right outside of the arena offering 50% off all challenge cup related tats and they need your help! Make a tattoo of a player in the finals with their name underneath it and add it somewhere on the customers body. post of a pic of the results!
