A rough start to the season is probably the biggest understatement of the league right now. 0-11-3 going into the second match of the week against Detroit wasn't nice, but finally the magic happened and we pulled off a win, a convincing one at that, winning 3-1.

Before the big win, there were some bright sparks about our power play was by far the best in the league at one point, sitting 10% above the rest of the league. It's slipped down to 27% which is good enough for 3rd, but I think we'll all take it given the recent win.

Face-offs are another big aspect to our game right now. This is of course to be expected with a guy named Mr Faceoffs on your team, but the forwards have really excelled themselves. We're currently sitting at 52% which is good enough for 2nd in the league.

I think our current biggest issue is getting higher quality goals. The shots are kind of there at an average of 26 per game, but the goals are down at 2.4 per game, which are 6th and 9th in the league respectively. I think in the training sessions we should be working at setting up more high quality scoring chances, and getting a lot of traffic in front of the goaltender.

Our penalty kill also needs a lot of work, we're way down at the bottom at 66%, it won't be easy to turn this around but I think the win against Detroit will help catapult us into success, and maybe even get somewhat far in the playoffs.
