The Champ and Goat of the Game: Champ:Jordan Joestar was a 9th round pick in the S45 SMJHL draft, falling quite a great deal despite a lot of promise and many pundits singing his praises going in. Joestar scored 2 goals and 3 points on the season, and surprisingly those were his first two goals this season.
Goat:St. Louis's depth didn't seem to really show up today, as all but four players finished the game as a minus, something that doesn't happen very often, especially games that are actually fairly close. But it proves that up and down St. Louis was not ready to play this game.
Interesting Facts of the Game:
This 5-3 game was surprisingly split among the rookies and veterans when it came to actual production, with 8 of the 16 scorers being rookies going into the S46 draft. This could possibly be concrete proof of how impactful these young players are, as they are able to handle big minutes with the older players and are producing at just about the same level as they are. It also helps that there are a ton of them in this draft as this game had a ridiculously high number of rookies playing in it. Then again this could just be a matter of an anomaly and this isn't typical of how most games are.
Goal of the Game:
The goal of this game occurred around the 18 minute mark of the first period, which led to a series of great passing plays and an incredible play in front of the net to tie the game up for Lethbridge after conceding the first lead of the game early. It started with Benois Miuscule turning the puck over while breaking out, but then Lethbridge intercepting it back from Tyler Tougard and leading to a fantastic passing play between Minuscule, Tutankhamun, and Cant Eykhil, then leading to Tutankhamun getting the puck again in front and deflecting it in to tie the game.
