With the season 19 games in we have been keeping up with the power forward that Kelowna drafted in the 9th round Liam Hutchinson. While his preseason numbers were not anything great he had been able to pick up the point production while playing a depth role for the Knights. Picking up his 6th assist of the season in his most recent game against the Militia which puts him at a point total of 7 points (1 goal, 6 assists) in 19 games played. That assist total comes surprising as his self stated weakness is his passing ability. While his point totals are not eye catching he is being defensively responsible being at a plus 4 on the season. Liams shooting percentage is lower than average at 5.56% , which explains his goal total, and is expected to increase as he works on his shot. For a power forward rookie, that is more towards a checking play type than a point getter, his season is going rather well averaging 11 minutes played a night.

Hi Liam, how is the season going for you?
Its going good, its been crazy adjusting to the junior lifestyle and the schedule has been rather hectic, but I am enjoying my time with the Knights. 

Thats good, Liam are you happy with your role on the Knights?
I am right now, but I am working hard to increase my offensive game. I want to be putting up solid point totals by the end of the season going into the playoffs. 

Liam, only 1 goal scored. Is that getting to you?
It is a bit, I have felt like I have gotten some fair shots off,  but the goalies are good in this league. They are hard to beat even in practice. In a game you just dont get enough time to pick you spot, so I have been getting some really low scoring chance shots off, but I am working on adjusting my game to get the shot off quicker.

Good to hear, you have been getting some assists though, and some powerplay time
Yeah the coach has been really good to me giving me some time on the second unit. I have been able to set up for some goals, and thats a really good feeling. I did get my only goal on the powerplay, and I hope to continue on with that opportunity. I am not too worried

I am sure the goals will come. How about the hitting, you were a heavy hitter coming into the league. Are you keeping up with that part of your game?
Yeah, it has been lost a bit. The guys are bigger, and its harder to lineup the hits. I feel my skating is still above average so i'm not having trouble keeping up, just they are better at avoiding the hits. I have still been able to get some hits in, I think Im at 15 so far this season.
