2) Another physical game by the Halifax Raiders! As expected, Perry Morgan took the most hits on his team with 5, tying up Shaquille Derisraka for the game's top most hits by an individual player. There was a fairly large discrepancy between the two teams and the number of hits they gave. The Raiders gave a whopping 25 bone-crunching hits to their opponent, whereas the Whalers had 17 hits total. Ouch! The Whalers must have felt that in the morning. For the Whalers, three players made up approximately 65% of their team's overall hits for the game, and 10 players on their skating roster without a single hit. For the Raiders, their top 5 hitters consisted of 5 players and accounted for 72% of their team's overall hits, and 8 players on their skating roster were left without a single hit.


3) Something to point out is that although the Raiders has a constant physical presence throughout the game, they were lacking on overall shots. They ended the game with a total of 22 shots against the Whalers' 29 shots. It does look like Vancouver's starting goalie, Stevens, had a rough game, letting in 4 goals in 15 shots. Stevens was replaced by Eddy Ask Jr. shortly after the start of the 3rd period, where he then stopped all 7 shots against him. Some might say the result of this game could have been very different had Eddy started the game in net instead. Others may argue that by the time Eddy got on the ice, the Whalers were far too sore from the physical punishment they suffered throughout the game by the Raiders to provide effective shots, which is why they were quite easy to stop for the goaltender. Nobody knows for sure, but we can agree that this was a hard-fought battle for the Raiders to win.
