The Lions come into this game on a 2 game losing streak sitting with a bleak 5-17-0 record sitting near the bottom of the table, while the Scarecrows won their last game and boast a winning 12-10-0 record. The Scarecrows are the clear favorite in this tilt. That's the tale of the tape, let's see how the two actually matched up! 

1st Period
We start the game off slow with not a whole lot of action from either side. The Scarecrow come at the Lions rookie goalie Patrice Nadeau with a flurry of non quality shots which he stops with ease. The pressure was clearly on the Lions in the first period and the frustration started to show as they took two penalties this period trying to stop the Scarecrow flurry. They kill off the first penalty from Brennan Kennedy Jr. that came early in the period and a nice surprise come after star rookie defenseman Donny McMasters takes a selfish high sticking penalty late in the frame. Rookie captain Monkey D. Luffy (6) pots one of his league leading 3 shorties after a defensive zone faceoff win by Roger Bastion and a quick change and some great puck movement by Dinars Briedis (7) and Benois Minuscule (10). Rattled from the tally the Scarecrows continue the pressure with even more shots but can't seem to beat Nadeau or the post for that matter.

2nd Period
It looks like the Lions coach had a good talk with the boys in the locker room and they came out flying in the second. Not even two minutes into the period Jøln DuBølk (3) scores his third goal of the season on the powerplay assisted by Dinars Briedis (7) and Nick Mckee (3). The Lions don't stop there, not even two minutes after that Tutankhamun muscles off the face off and pots his seventh of the season with the helper going to the center and Lions leading point getter Roger Baston (12). This extended the Lions lead to 3 but the Scarecrow office refused to stop peppering Nadeau with a relentless onslaught of shots. Unfortunately for the them at 17:17 Gordie Boomhover converted his own rebound only to have it called back for a crease violation. Lots of shots by both teams but the Scarecrows can't seem to get any high quality ones and they end the period on the PK (third of the period) so the frustration is clearly showing.

3rd Period
The game slowed down a bit in the third period with both teams looking a little tired. However the Scarecrows still refused to stop putting the puck on net hoping they could finally get one past this rookie goalie. Finally at 7:48 Tyler Tougard (6) gets one past him after a bunch of uncontested rebounds from Helmuts Akemlauks (12) and Michael Fox (4). The Scarecrows would be unable to get anymore by this rookie after a sensational night and Cant Eykihl (3) puts the nail in the coffin coming from Jordan Joestar (6) and Jøln DuBølk (5). The Scarecrows couldn't find a way to beat Nadeau this night and that was their only downfall after outplaying the Lions for most of the night. The Lions withstood the storm and hopefully they can use this momentum against a good team to light up the second half of the season!
