PGS S45 Game 90 DET vs STL
#1

Falcons Detroit Falcons vs. St. Louis Scarecrows Scarecrows

Tonight we have a battle between two of the most decorated junior teams in the eastern conference. On the home side wearing the black and gold we have the St. Louis Scarecrows. On the away side we have the visiting Detroit Falcons dawning the red and white. Over the last few seasons these teams have separated themselves from the rest of the pack and have proven to be perennial winners. In this game however only one can win. Let's dive in.

Just a little over 2 minutes in to this one and the Scarecrows strike first as Helmuts Akmenlauks scores his forth of the season on the man advantage. Assists go to Bernard "Bun-B" Freeman and Steven Moyer. Jimmy Cahill can be seen shaking his head as he exits the penalty box. Not the start the Falcons were looking for in this one, but still plenty of hockey to go. As we approach the end of the 1st period the Scarecrows strike again and double their lead off a lazer beam like shot from Bun-B, his 8th of the season. His linemate Ty Hoover is credited with the assist. Not even 20 seconds later the Scarecrows put up another tally as Ty Hoover goes top shelf, far bar on a brilliant passing play from Slip McScruff and Adam Taylor. One period down and the Scarecrows hold a commanding 3-0 lead after out shooting the Falcons 8-2.

Start of the second period and Falcons find themselves in a pretty deep hole. St Louis' Michael Fox takes a flagrant tripping call early and the Falcons hop on the powerplay. Only needing 20 seconds on the man advantage the Falcons strike for their first of the game to bring the game within 2 as Tobias Viklund scores his 5th goal of the season off assists from David Fantobens and Franz Cooper. 10 minutes later the Scarecrows would regain their 3 goal lead on a goal from Bernard Freeman, his second of the match. The lone assist was given to Adam Taylor. Late in the second Bernard would get a little too chippy with his stick and got hit with a hooking call. The Falcons would make the most of their opportunity as they'd convert on yet another power play to bring the score back within two to end the period. This time on a tally from Wolfhard Richter, his 6th of the season. David Fantobens would be credited with the lone assist on the goal.

Third and final period. St. Louis are still in the lead, but Detroit did manage to reduce the lead by 1 in the second. Five minutes in and the Scarecrows regain their 3 goal lead yet again, this time on a tally from Adam Taylor. Bernard Freeman and Nicolas Fleming are credited with the assists. As we approach the final 10 minutes it looks like this one is almost over. Just under 7 minutes to go and the Scarecrows put this one out of reach as Steven Moyer strikes for this 3rd goal of the season. To add insult to injury St. Louis' Tyler Tougard scores his 4th of the season inside the final 3 minutes to put the home town Scarecrows up 7-2. A good old fashioned blowout to be sure.

First Star - Bernard Freeman Scarecrows - With 2 goals, 2 assists and a sparkling +4 rating there was very little this young stud did wrong in this game.
Second Star - Adam Taylor Scarecrows - Tallying 1 goal and 3 assists Adam's play making was thoroughly on show tonight. A delight to watch.
Third Star - Ty Hoover Scarecrows - Collecting 1 goal and 1 assist the rookie finished with a fantastic +4 rating and 14 of 25 faceoff wins.
