PGS - Game 94 - KEL vs MTL
#8

Comment #1 Montreal Goalies:

Montreal goalies this game could be described in 2 words; Hot and Cold. First off, Petr Vrana started the game and was sent to the showers after only 24 minutes of play. He managed to let in 4 goals in 11 shots allowing Knights to take a 2 goal lead being 4-2 when he was chased from the game. Vrana had previously known a solid game against Kelowna during week 2's PGS, we can't say this much this time. However, his teamate Aleksi O'Koivu-Volkova came in hot stopping all 15 shots received during the remaining time and the overtime period and then stopping all 3 shoutoot attempts made against him. We can basically say he saved Montreal from an embarassing loss and earning them a spectacular win.

Comment #2 Kelowna's Third line:

Knights are used to having a solid performance from their top 6 forwards. However, the third line of Barry Batsbak, Nathan Explosion and Zach Laliberté managed to contribute positively to the team effort, especially in the first period as they assembled to score a goal. The line managed to keep a neutral +/-, an important stat for a third line and had 4 scoring chances as a whole. The line could help contribute more physically as they only recorded 1 hit. usually, the checking line manages a bit more hits but Montreal played a fast game and big hits were scarce.

Comment #3 Shootout:

This game led to a rare occurence in the SMJHL this year so far, shootouts. Fans were already on the edge of their seats as Montreal came back froma 4-2 deficit allowed by starting goaltender Vrana and were confident in O'koivu-Volkova's after a solid relief performance.

The first shot was taken by Karlstrabe Scholz who tried a big slapshot, easily blocked by Vrana.

Next  shot by Montreal was Keegan Angelo who also went for the big old slapper. Easily stopped by Leblanc as well

We had to wait until 3rd shot for a little creativity, Vladislav Konstantin went for a spinorama in front of the goalie but Montreal's goalie spread his pads all the way to the post to keep the puck out of the net.

Next up was Miltia winger, Willie Mack. He stole the show going for a baseball swing after sending his puck up in the air. He scoredon Leblanc who was surprised of his feint. This would be the winning goal.

Nickolas Klaus tried to keep his team alive but was stopped easily after a nice wristshot.
