Kristian Eriksson came into the SHL as part of the S20 draft class. Having just finished a successful season with the Kelowna Knights of the SMJHL, Eriksson was projected by many to go early in the SHL draft. However, he ended up falling to the second round, going 13th overall to the Toronto North Stars. Eriksson would spend his entire career with the North Stars, becoming arguably the greatest S20 player. During his 24 seasons with the North Stars, Eriksson was a three time First All-Star team member, a regular season and playoff MVP, and led Toronto to its first and only Challenge Cup victory in S35. Eriksson racked up points over his long career, and buoyed by a late career resurgence in the late S30s, Eriksson ended up mired in a points race with fellow greybeard Esa Anrikkanen. First, they raced towards 927 points to tie Joe McKeil as the SHL's all-time leading scorer, and Anrikannen reached the mark first, just days before Eriksson. Next, they struggled towards the 1000 point plateau, with Eriksson getting there just 1 day before Anrikannen. Eriksson retired at the end of that season, as the first SHL player to reach 1000 career points, and the second leading scorer in SHL history.
