Comment One - First Round Focus:
In this segment, we will break down the impact that each team's first-round selection from the S46 draft had on today's game. ![]() Thomas impressively slotted in on the second defensive pair alongside Donny McMasters in just his second game in the SMJHL. Despite his team losing 4-2, Bathory was able to maintain a +1 plus/minus and registered a hit throughout the game, and played the most minutes of any Lion at 22:30 minutes played. Thomas' defensive prowess was showcased during today's game, however, the team hopes he begins to contribute offensively as the season progresses. ![]() Unlike Thomas, Esa did not jump any sophomores on the depth chart so he started this game on the third line beside fellow rookie Jaguar Johnson, and in between 2nd-year Gaspard Boone. In the Raider's 4-2 victory, Parmborg was on the ice for one goal for, leaving him at a +1 similar to Bathory, he also had 2 shots on goal and 1 hit to round out his stats. Esa demonstrated his two-way play during today's game, and he will find the back of the net soon enough if he continues to take shots from danger areas. Comment Two - Who was Hot? Forward of the Game - ![]() Gaspard scored the game-winning goal for the Raiders, all while playing with two rookies on the third line. His stat line was rounded out by 3 shots on goal, 2 hits and winning just under 50% of his faceoffs. An all-around masterpiece of a game that was essential to the Raiders victory tonight. Defenseman of the Game - ![]() Andrej excelled at both ends of the ice in this game. Recording 3 assists including the primary assist on the game-winning goal, as well as racking up a +2 plus/minus, 3 hits and 1 shot block, it was evident that Doskocil was the overall player of the game for the Raiders. Goaltender of the Game - ![]() Patrice was left out to dry by his teammates in this game, yet he managed to save 29 of 32 shots that he faced, for a .906 save pct., and kept the game much closer than it could've been. Nadeau should be ripping into the offensively talented forwards that are present in the Lethbridge locker room for some support in the coming games. Comment Three - Who was Not? Liable Forward of the Game - ![]() Roger represents the second forward line for the Lions who failed to put up a single goal to support their goaltender's performance and were held to just 4 shots on goal throughout the entire game. Their performances while on the man-advantage, which they were for over 5 minutes during the game, were also abysmal, to say the least. Liable Defenseman of the Game - ![]() This defensive pairing played sheltered minutes tonight but still managed to be on the ice for 3 and 2 goals respectively. Sami only managed one shot to finish off either of their stat lines so they failed to produce offensively or defensively, practically costing Lethbridge the game. Liable Goaltender of the Game - ![]() Mike faced very limited shots on goal during this game because of some strong defensive showings throughout the lineup, yet he managed to allow 2 goals on 18 shots which could have proven costly for his team if the offense had not produced like they did, he will need to pick it up in future games if Halifax hopes to win the cup. |
