Thinking Inside the Box: Raiders Win in Spite of Penalties
Game 6 saw the Halifax Raiders outshoot the Lethbridge Lions 33-18 despite picking up five minor penalties to Lethbridge's 2. Just nine seconds into the game, Halifax's first line center Dominic Montgomery got sent away for two minutes for hooking. Later that period, Perry Morgan picked up two for tripping. The second period saw Halifax's PIM streak continue, with Montgomery getting two more for hooking (again!), followed by rookies Jaguar Johnson and Ender Zavala picking up a minor each for interference and holding, respectively. Lethbridge finally got in the box in the third period, courtesy of a delay of game call on Benois Minuscule and an interference on Donny McMasters. Both teams stood strong on the penalty kill, and neither team could muster a goal on the power play. All in all, despite the increased time in the box, Halifax remained unaffected and nearly doubled Lethbridge's shot total throughout the game. |
