Scarecrows  St. Louis Scarecrows vs Vancouver Whalers  Whalers

These two teams have already played each other this season, with the Whalers picking a 4-2 victory in Vancouver. St. Louis will be looking to even up the season series on their home ice and pick up their first win of the season while the Vancouver Whalers will look to keep on rolling and put together a dominant regular season. This was going to be a good one from the start.

Period 1: The first period started out slow for both sides with the last matchup being tightly contested and neither team wanting to make a mistake. Igor Volkov took a holding minor 5 minutes into the game but the Crows couldn't capitalize on the power play. Vancouver had their own powerplay shortly after and couldn't score either. The game was a defensive contest for the first period as both goalies stood strong and held their own. Vancouver led in shots 8 to 3 of St. Louis'.

Period 2: About halfway through the 2nd period, the Whalers had a strong shift deep in St. Louis territory and pestered goalie Billy Sorokin with shots. St. Louis just couldn't get a clear and Mattie Brunton ended up icing the puck which would turn out to be a mistake. Aaron Wilson won the faceoff against the tired Mika Kandinsky and Theo Morgan immediately fired it into the net for his first of the season and the Whalers were up 1-0 on the Crows. The Crows woke up for the rest of the period and although they didn't score in the second period, they were showing signs of life. Shots were 8-7 in favour of St. Louis.

Period 3: St. Louis came out hungry for blood in the 3rd period and immediately began to turn it around. 9 seconds into the third period Nicolas Fleming fired home a beautiful one timer with assists from Magnicotta and Muller to even it up. About halfway through the 3rd, Fork Spoon took a bad roughing minor and the Whalers powerplay went to work. Vancouver scored just 6 seconds into the powerplay with a nice slapshot from Cullen Gray, his second of the season, and they had the lead once again. St. Louis was determined to not go down without a fight however as Fork Spoon led the rush up the wing with the last second dish to Basil Magnicotta who potted it in just minutes after the last goal and we were tied again! The rest of the period was a blur however as something had angered the Whalers and they just pestered St. Louis with shot after shot and were absolutely determined to score. Nicolaj Muller ended up taking a high sticking minor penalty and Vancouver was too good to not capitalize on that opportunity. Bobby Bobcalf potted in his first of the season on the powerplay and the Whalers played great shut down hockey, limiting St. Louis to just 7 shots in the 3rd period. To ice the game, Aaron Wilson scored his 3rd goal of the season into the empty net and Jax Duggan picked up his 3rd assist of the night! The Whalers won yet another hard fought game against the St. Louis Scarecrows.

Final Score 4-2 Vancouver Whalers

3 Stars
1 - Jax Duggan (VAN)

2 - Aaron Wilson (VAN)
3 - Basil Magnicotta (STL)
