Comment 1: Three Stars of the Game
To no surprise, all three stars of tonight's game were from the Anchorage Armada. Starting with Elijah Jones who registered his fourth goal of the season off of two shots. As a rookie, he's only getting about 16 minutes of ice time, but has been shooting well and should be interesting to see where he goes from here. Second star is Jake Primeau with a three point night on two goals and one assist after getting the Armada going in the first period with his second goal of the season. The main star of the night was Jonas Larsen, with a hat trick of assists and one goal. Larsen scored on his only shot of the night. Despite being one of the lowest in ice team, Larsen led the Armada's third line to an offensive beat down. 147 Words Comment 2: Fight Night in Anchorage One of tonight's major highlights is a not so common bout in the SMJHL. This time it's the battle of the Macs as Dylon McIntyre and Spencer MacLean square off. MacLean and McIntyre are fighting for positioning in front of the goaltender when Raphael D'Alcott lets a shot go that just goes wide of the net. Talking can be seen going on between McIntyre and MacLean when McIntyre gives him a slight shove and skates after the puck. The puck finally clears to the neutral zone while on the back of the play MacLean returns a light whack and McIntyre goes right in for him. Multiple sucker punches mostly absorbed by MacLean, before returning the favor with some punches and a uppercut, however the boys struggle to get a good grip on each other. A few more punches thrown back and forth with most of them missing and it comes to a draw as the refs step in. McIntyre would leave the game on a misconduct for instigating. 177 words Comment 3: Goalie Breakdown Both goaltenders came in to tonight with less than four games played on the season. Colt Beckett has had a couple solid performances in net for the Armada this season, however no win to show for it coming into tonight with a 0-1-2 record. And he sure did work for tonight's win, with a pair of highlight reel saves including a windmill save on Anthony Archer to keep the momentum going in the first period. Beckett stops 23 of 24 shots to finish with a spectacular .958 save average, despite having a long night on the PK. Patrick Neiderreiter comes into tonight's game looking a little shaky, looking for his second win of the season but can't get it done. Despite the rough performance, Niederreiter still continues to show a lot of potential for the future. 145 words Anthony Archer - S49 12th Overall
