Before I made it into the SHL and started earning the big bucks so I could immediately spend it each season, I worked as the Mascot for the Vancouver Whalers. I would get up into the costume and dance around, it was interesting as at the time the costume included a harpoon coming out of the left side of my head, but I guess “Hey, they are the Whalers” so it kinda made sense. It made a few impacts for me, I learned what it really feels like to sweat, but don’t tell coach that i told them I learned how to during their skating drills rookie season but thats another story, anyway lets me sweat like the dickens and have it not bother me. Other than the smell. That’s been getting a bit worse lately. But anyways, along with sweat it taught me a good work ethic in which I have managed to keep up, through my career.
