When the Game Got Away
Besides the obvious "game got away from Montreal when St Louis scored with 4 minutes left to take the lead", the Scarecrows had a short bench after Nicolaj Mueller took a nasty spearing penalty that got him tossed from the game. Montreal had a 5 minute powerplay to score as many times as they could, at about the perfect time in the game. They scored no goals. They were down 2-0 at that point, and though they scored twice in the 3rd to tie it anyway, a goal or 2 here would have put the Scarecrows on the hotseat if they could still score in the 3rd. It was ultimately giving up a goal late in the 3rd that got them the L, but Montreal really missed their opportunity with the 5 minute powerplay. ![]() Prince George Firebirds GM (S34-S36) Toronto North Stars GM (S37-S43) ![]() |
