PGS S49 Game 26: Montreal vs. Halifax
#12

The difference maker in this game was simply put special teams. Montreal was able to bully Halifax in this game, taking 4 penalties as opposed to just one powerplay, but they were able to capitalize when it mattered the most. They only surrendered 1 goal on 4 advantages for Halifax, vs scoring 1 goal on their only attempt. This allowed Montreal to play fast and loose, they were rolling around the ice throwing big hits because they were not being punished with their penalties. Halifax only mustered 5 SOG on net for their 4 powerplays, a sorely missed opportunity that has to sting with them losing the game by 2 goals. 3 of Halifax's powerplay shots came on the last powerplay when the game was already 5-3 for Montreal and late in the game, where Halifax was already showing signs of defeat and Montreal was just hanging on for the last push.
