Eyes wide, he reads the letter over and over, hardly believing that he would be invited to the finals in Tampa. What's even more astonishing is that he is playing in the finals in Carolina the same week. But a true fan would be at both. We're picking Tampa because its warm. And Nice. The bar is pretty low when Calgary is your other options, but we'll make the best of it. An afternoon on the beach, then drinks at a popular bar. Mai-Tais are a must. By now, it's time for puck drop and Fiddler is plastered. He orders ALL the shrimp, ALL the nachos, and showers women in Champagne. It is at this moment, Eggy realized: he fucked up. It was a great time for Fiddler, but the front office will have to rethink next year's sweepstakes. Code: 2. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min) 109 words It's a tough pick for Fiddler. He has teammates on both teams. Alexi Rykov and Joseph Weston were drafted back to back by Calgary and Fitted was drafted by Tampa Bay. Fiddler is personally rooting for the Dragons. It's two to one, but it's still a tough decision because Fitted is the heart and soul of the Carolina Kraken and will not be denied easily But by a small margin, I have to go for Calgary. Plus, as a Detroit Red Wings fan, I have to root against anything affiliated with Tampa Bay. And the flames are a like-able team I think. So maybe the Dragons will be too. 4. Take us over to one of those realities in which everything is the same but these S50 playoffs have unfolded differently. What happened in this reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there? In this alternate reality, the Buffalo Stampede have reached the finals against the Calgary Dragons. Also in this reality, the Kraken have already won the 4 star cup and their players have been called up to their respective teams: Tom Fiddler and Hans Schweinsteiger to the Buffalo Stampede and Alexi Rykov and Joseph Weston to the Calgary Dragons. Rykov and Weston are proven scorers, but only Hans commands that one Combs the Chest, and they will. I predict that the series will go to 7 games, with Rykov and Fiddler fighting at least half a dozen times, and Hans with 5 goals and 62 hits. In game one, we saw Weston assist on a few power play goals and in game two he scored one for himself. They were fortunate enough to win both at home. but games three and four were all Fiddler and Hans. Although in different positions, their lines matched up frequently and combined for many goals. In the end, the Stampede reigned supreme. Code: 5. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min) I think a new rule that would improve the game would be allowing slap shots. I know it sounds crazy, what with slap shots being incredibly fast and difficult to stop. My opponents will say that it can really hurt to block a slapshot or that it really stings the goalies when they make the stop. Well I say boo-hoo, it is time to embrace this fancy new technique. Tests show that a slap shot is 30-50% faster than a wrist shot and makes it through to the net 40% more often. This also opens up the possibilities for players who are ONLY good at slap shots. Imagine: you can pass to a player and rather than corral the puck to get some mustard on it for the shot, you can just let-er-rip and clap out a fat bomb towards the net. It would be unstoppable, but people would get used to it and invent entirely new ways to play the game. Code: 7. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min) 161 words I think my biggest struggle has been being strong on the puck and positioning. My puck handling isn't super high to begin with, and I've put a lot of work into face offs to help control the game. But really, being stronger and being better with my stick should help me maintain possession when hit or when they attempt to strip the puck. Furthermore, this will also improve my face off game. Secondarily, my positioning isn't the strongest,my defense is a measly 75. A strong positioning game requires at least 80 in the juniors and far more in the SHL. Thankfully, defense is one of my strengths, so in the end I will have a very strong defensive game. These benefit both my teams by allowing me to be a defensively responsible center who can ensure possession of the puck and make great passes to my scorers. In the end, this should give me the amount of assists I deserve. Code: 13. Written, up to 5 TPE Pick up to 5 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Each answer must be 50+ words to qualify. 54 words 1 TPE D. I think I'd have to go with Shooter McGavin because its in there TWICE. You gotta love the callback to such a great actor and character. McGavin is notorious for his finger gun shenanigans on the golf course and I can only assume this extends into the hockey realm when he scores a goal. 54 words 1 TPE E. I would hands down take the chicken parm sandwich from Esa. I don't know who Esa is, but I can only assume he or she makes a mean chicky parm and chicky parms are delicious. You've got the crispiness of the breaded chicken combined with the sweet, acidic tomato sauce to bring everything together. 16 total TPE |
