Hello SHL,
Due to an exploit discovered recently in Simon T Hockey Simulator, we'll likely be delaying the start of the upcoming season a few days. The current goal is to only have to push things off by a few days, leading to a start on Monday, but we'll keep you updated if that changes. To summarize the situation at hand, one of the GMs discovered that running an entire team of players at 40 passing in the current sim engine would literally break STHS, making it so that a team with 40 passing players would put up goal previously unforeseen goal totals and be virtually unstoppable. An example here is a test sim done by @SDCore that shows what happens if the Chicago Syndicate have players with 40 passing: ![]() This is a 4.96 goals per game season, a full 1.2 ahead of the second place team (the LA Panthers, for the curious). The shots per game also go up to 49.94, a hair under fifty while the Specters sit in second with only 35.46. We have a few options here, but the one that currently is showing the most promise is changing sim engines to the 2.1 sim engine. Previously we have avoided changing sim engines because of how it affects goal scoring, but having everyone going towards 40 passing would make goal scoring even worse than an engine change would do. We also considered altering minimums for stats, or even just for passing, and ultimately it doesn't really make a difference - it's still an unbeatable strategy. We're currently doing our best to find settings that would give us close to the same stats we currently have in the current sim engine, but it's looking like whatever we do it's going to take us into a new era for stats. We have a number of people currently testing out different options, and are also communicating directly with a number of (non-team based) discords from the site to determine the best course of action before we make a final decision on the matter. I'll do my best to provide updates in this post as we have more of an idea of what will be happening. Thanks, Eggy Edit 11/20, 10:30 - These are currently the best looking sliders for 2.1: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
