Manhattan Rage honor Creller with jersey retirement

The Manhattan Rage continued their celebration of their 50th season with honoring arguably the second face of the franchise – Tommy Creller. They retired the jersey of the historic player in a game against the Calgary Dragons, a franchise where he played for two seasons in S32 and S33, as well as where his son Casey played his entire career.

Creller was the hero of S22, the first Challenge Cup in franchise history, becoming the first player for the Rage to win the Anton Razov Trophy as the playoff MVP. He eventually left the team, only to return in S34 to aid them in winning another Challenge Cup while having a career year with 51 points and 20 goals in 50 games. Creller is among the few players who have won two Cups in the history of the Rage.

In terms of his ranking among Rage history, he was the known face of the franchise among the S20s for a reason. He has played the third most games in Rage history with 558, and with that was the third highest scoring player in Rage history at 448 points. He had 184 goals, making him the second best scorer in Rage history. His 1800 shots were third, 679 hits were tenth and he had 24 game winning goals in his career to be fifth.

When it came to the postseason, Creller was the boy turned to legend in only his second season in the SHL in S22. In total, he had 36 points, including 10 goals, in 32 games played in the playoffs. That ranks him sixth in Rage history, though ranking as number one until the S38 playoff run ascended the likes of Wyatt Wollker and Harry Hans.

Creller unfortunately fell short of making the SHL Hall of Fame, receiving no votes in S43 on his final chance on the ballot.

Please join the Rage in thanking Tommy Creller for his time with the Rage and honoring him in lifting his name to the rafters forever.

@Mook

This is the 50th season of the Manhattan Rage, and as such they are honoring many of their greatest players of all time.

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.
