Comment 1: Highlights

Incredible effort from Anchorage's Stan Hanson to tuck it in behind St. Louis net-minder Elizabeth Doyle at 2:10 of the first Period. 


Sergei Potvinov with excellent play stopping Alex Meszaros after coming into the game just 3 minutes prior (4:00min in the 2nd)


Hats streaming down from the home crowd in St. Louis as Ruslan Zaporozhets nets his third goal in the 2nd. His 6th overall of the season, an amazing performance. 






Comment 2: Potvinov left out to dry.
Sergei Potvinov deserves more credit for his performance in this game, and yes I do know that his save percentage was in the low 700s. .727 in fact is a horrid stat but I think this needs more examination and context to understand why his performance was actually above what was expected. This game as a whole was a goalies worst nightmare, funny enough the goalie with the best stats this match was the one pulled 50 seconds into the 2nd with veteran Ian Venables saving 22/26 shots for a total of .846. If you look at the opponents who dominated the game the Scarecrows goalie Doyle only had a save percentage of .692. This was a forwards game first and foremost. Defense was out the window, and to be able to put up the numbers he did, Potvinov had to make some incredible saves on the red-hot scarecrows with Ruslan Zaprozhets taking no quarter. I look forward to seeing how Potvinov develops because the potential for greatness is certainly there despite what a cursory glance at the game may say about his performance.
