1) An overall defensive struggle for Anchorage shows in a first period flurry of goals leaving Anchorage down by 2 by the end of the first.  Defensive struggles notwithstanding, Potvinov played well in goal for the Armada, but with a lack of support from the get go, the stats are skewed against him.  St. Louis however had an outstanding game with Zaporozhets netting a hat trick in what would eventually be an offensive beating on Anchorage. Definitely deserving of a first star for the game, Zaporozhets showing his scoring chops with his sixth of the season is starting out strong for the Scarecrows.

2) Yet again Anchorage struggled in the faceoff circle winning only 42 of 87 faceoffs putting them at sub 50% again, something they've struggled to break early on in the season. Alongside those issues came the issue of discipline, with Anchorage giving up five penalties to the Scarecrows though only giving up one goal to the Power Play of the Scarecrows. The Scarecrows seemed to have issues entering the zone during the Power Play, they looked almost aimless as time and again Anchorage managed to clear the zone.  Although they managed to convert one attempt, the Scarecrows do have plenty of work ahead of them.

3) To say Anchorage struggled in net tonight would be an unfortunate understantement for an Armada team that has been plagued by inconsistent goaltending and defensive awareness thus far this season.  Yet again Sergei Potvinov struggled to maintain composure throughout the game as well as Ian Venables with an almost tandem workload tonight with Ian starting and entering the game in the third period as well. Although both goalies have had issues so far this season, Sergei and Ian have both plenty of support missing from the third line as yet again the struggles mount for a third line seemingly always missing a beat.
