Discipline the main story
SMJHL teams have often tried to find ways to make their teams more disciplined. The young players often find themselves in the penalty box more than what you'd see at the SHL level. Unfortunately for St. Louis, this ended up costing them the game. In a close 3-2 result, Newfoundland found the back of the net twice on the powerplay. In total, the Scarecrows were called on nine minor penalties. Flash Gordon was called twice in the same period. If the Scarecrows want to show that they are one of the best teams in the league then they will certainly figure out how to stay out of the box.

Bottom Six Support
Part of the reason that Newfoundland has found such early success in the season is because they have been able to count on all of their players to contribute to the scoring sheet. With limited playing time, Newfoundland found their second powerplay group leading to the win tonight. With a big equalizer from Niccolo Livius and the eventual game winner from Guy LeGrande, Newfoundland clearly have something going here. Both of these players score their first of the season in this game and will be looking to continue this success going forward. Look for Newfoundland to maybe give more time to their first-year players with the recent spark in offense.

In Juke We Trust
Newfoundland's Jukka Timonen finds himself as the first star in the this game, which is not the first time this season. Jukka's third goal of the season got the scoring opened tonight. His third tally comes in just six games which is an incredible pace for the sophomore defneseman. Newfoundland's defensive corp is mostly made up of rookie goalies and as such, Timonen finds himself acting as a leader for this group. The Berserkers have been very fortunate being able to count on Jukka this much so far this season and the reliable play on both ends of the ice tonight is why the alternate captain finds himself with the first star honours.
