Bird Up
In what has become somewhat of a common site, the Detroit Falcons ran away with this game. It was absolute dominance from puck drop to the final whistle with Detroit running away with this one 7-1. The biggest performance came in the 2nd period where Detroit was able to get up four tallies. Kelowna was able to get one in response in this period but they were clearly outmatched the entire game. The Falcons also put two up in the first and added on one more towards the end of the game in the third. Shots for this one ended at 37-18, showing just how carried away this one ended up.

Special Nobodies
When Kelowna's Adam Scianna was called on a hooking penalty in the first 12 seconds of the game, it was expected that this game would spiral out of control. However, the exact opposite happened. Detroit was not able to capitalize on the powerplay and no other penalties would be called all game which is something almost unheard of in the SMJHL. Detroit is sitting pretty on top of the league with their 28% conversion rate on the powerplay but the Knights were cautious about their play and didn't all the offensive Falcons push them into bad calls. Sure, the result is not pretty by any means but Kelowna showed some strong discipline and didn't find themselves hurting further due to bad penalties.

Some water for ranch
With the game quickly getting away from them its not surprising that Kelowna was looking for their more experienced players to step up in an attempt to stop the bleeding. The biggest notable from these players is defenseman Alex Ranch who finished the night with a total time on ice of 24 minutes and 44 seconds. Having played almost half the game it is clear as to why the player was seemingly exhausted at the final whistle. Despite Detroit dominating the leaderboard, Kelowna was able to rely on one of their core players to go out there and give it their best.
