1) The most surprising stat of the game to me is that the Colorado Raptors had 7 power play opportunities but they only shot the puck 23 times vs Anchroage Armada’s 46 shots. Usually when a team receives so many power plays they would be up many more shots. Though the Raptors did score 2 power play goals I think part of the reason they did not shoot it as much as they could, or were as successful, were their 13 giveaways that they had in the game. When you give the puck up that much it is hard to get many shots off, regardless of how many PP attempts you get

2) The unsung hero this game to me was Anchorage Armada defenseman Ulrik Bergstrom. Ulrik’s quiet, yet solid game, usually goes unnoticed so I think it is important to call him out here in this one. Important on both sides of special teams and a veteran presence in the line up he had a great stat line of +3 and 2 takeaways that led directly to scores on the other end of the ice. Him and Lando Norris were the best pair on the ice for Armada that night and goes to show how useful veterans can be to a young lineup such as Anchorage’s.

3) The play of the game in my opinion was Anchorage Armada’s Braden Lowrie’s goal on the power play near the end of the game. This highlight reel goal by Braden came on a very terrible giveaway by rookie defenseman Aumy Jr. while trying to clear the puck to the other end of the ice so the penalty kill unit could get off and change. Instead the puck goes directly to Braden who gave a headfake to Raptor’s goalie Samat before sending it top shelf right before reaching the crease. This was a big blow to the Raptors comeback attempt in the final last half of the last period.
