Hello and welcome to the recap of the first game of the season! Today is October 4th, 2020 and today’s game took place in the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia with a HUGE turnout of over 8000 fans! Tonight we’re viewing the Vancouver Whalers vs. the Colorado Raptors. Let us dive into the recap.


Period One

We start the game off with a faceoff won by Petrovic for the Whalers. Colorado quickly gains control of the puck with Barkov attempting to score against Vacouvers goalie of the game, Redacted. The rest of the period goes by with both teams exchanging equal amounts of shots on goal, unfortunately, none making it in yet.


Period Two

Less than a minute in we see the first goal of the game come from Ryosuke Sato, one of the Whalers’ alternate captains! This goal was assisted by Alessandrini and Shuffleboard. Vancouver continues to keep the pressure on Colorado with several more shots on goal, at about the 10-minute mark another one goes in for Vancouver! The goal was made by Bryce McMahon with an assist from Slimey Snail. Not much later we see two penalties given out to the Raptors; one to Carlos Brown, and another to Anrijs Asts both two minutes. In the last two minutes of the game, we see yet another goal from Bryce McMahon! With assists from Alessandrini and Shuffleboard! Vancouver is now up 3-0! Colorado has kept up their shots on goal but Redacted has shown he is a force to be reckoned with. 


Period Three

This brings us into the last period, in which the majority of this period is spent with both teams attempting to score back and forth. The area is playing a popular song by Doja Cat called “MOOO!” which we can hear the crowd singing along with the iconic lyric “bitch I’m a cow, bitch I’m a cow.” Three quarters in the last period, we see a fourth and final goal for the Vancouver Whalers from their team captain Sven Ykskaft with the assist from rookie Wile E Coyote and from the rookie, and previous DFA to the Whalers, Devin Basher!


Stars


Our first star for todays game is Name Redacted, the goalie for the Whalers with a total of 32 saves this game! Redacted was on his A-game today and it paid off with a 4-0 win. 

Our second star is Bryce McMahon from Vancouver with 2 goals this game! His high defensive and offensive read, as well as his puckhandling really helped him nail those two goals for the Whalers tonight. 

Our third and final star is Johnny Shuffleboard from Vancouver with 2 assists! Shuffleboard is really starting this season off with a bang, can’t wait to see more from him.
