PGS Game #1 - Vancouver Whalers vs. Colorado Raptors

Comment 1: Goalie Battle
This game, as it would seem, appears to be a pretty one sided goalie battle. On the winning side we have Name Redacted, with a 32 save shutout. This very well kept Vancouver into the game in this one and it makes total sense that he was considered the first star of this game. A shutout alone is impressive, but taking 32 shots in the process makes it an even bigger achievement. Now we look at the Colorado Raptors, they played Jerry Huuveri. He had a pretty rough performance, letting in 4 out of 25 shots with a very rough .160 save percentage. To his defense, the goalie on the other team just had a better game, the Raptors outshot the Whalers 32 to 25. Name Redacted Wins. The first star, Name Redacted, was the goalie. He posted a 32 save shutout which is very impressive considering his team got out shot. The second star we had in this game was Bryce McMahon. I feel that he was a key member of the offense in this game, he scored two goals, they were the second and third goals of the league putting the Raptors in the lead. Lastly, we have Johnny Shuffleboard. Another key member to the offense in this game, he assisted in the go ahead goal for the Whalers and helped put them in the lead. Overall I agree with all of these picks and think they were crucial members to the Whalers winning this game. Vancouver had a whopping nine giveaways to Colorado's two, a clear win in the Colorado column. In addition, Colorado had twenty two hits in comparison to Vancouver's seventeen another win for Colorado. This shows that Colorado was playing very hard in the forecheck, unfortunately it didn't show up in the score board. So when you take a closer look into this game it actually seems like this was winnable by both sides but Vancouver's goalie made the saves and played his game to come out with the win.
