So, that happened. The Battleborn were swept by the Knights in the first round of the SMJHL playoffs. This was not a great surprise for many who predicted the playoffs ahead of time; few thought we'd win a game. As a team, however, we absolutely thought we might be able to sneak a game or two, so it's a bit of a bitter taste in our mouths that we were unable to do so. What it really came down to at the end of the day was that while as a team, we constantly improved and made clear strides during the second half of the season, this is still an expansion team in its first season, one that usually ends up being stupidly hard for whichever team just entered the league. We faced an excellent Knights team that finished second in the Western Conference and were only 3 points behind the Armada from being tied for being the number one seed in the entire conference. So, yes, it was hard to see us go down like that, and it wasn't too surprising for those on the outside, but we are still confident that this was merely a case of us not being ready in the first season of a team's existence (few expansion teams are this early). What we do know and promise is that we will continue to work hard to ensure such a similar result does not occur next season.
