I think that the Battle of Alberta is just as prevalent in the SHL as it is in the NHL. The Calgary Dragons and the Edmonton Blizzard have had a great rivalry going for many seasons, just like the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers in the NHL. Time and time again, the Dragons match up with the Blizzard, and it is always an intense series for sure. OT wins, Game 7s, huge comebacks, big goals in general....there is always a lot to be seen in an Edmonton and Calgary series. There's also usually a good amount of trash talk, and I even think both team's branding are top notch as well, so you could argue there's a rivalry in that regard as well. I've been on the Calgary Dragons for my entire SHL career with both Michael Boychuk and Mikael Choybuk, and Edmonton is a team that we consistently have great games and series' against.
