Historically, the San Francisco Pride’s biggest league rival has been the Los Angeles Panthers. It’s a natural rival as both teams battle for supremacy in the state of California. Recently, the Pride have not had much in the way of rivalries because the team has not been competitive. It makes sense that the Pride will eventually have some Southwest Division rivals when the team gets competitive again. It could be that Los Angeles will reemerge as the Pride’s division rival or if Texas or New Orleans will be more competitive matchups. As the team continues to improve, natural rivals will surely emerge through difficult playoff matchups. Other teams in the West that are constantly in the playoffs are teams like Calgary and Edmonton, both teams could eventually be Pride rivals if there are any big time playoff matchups and bad blood develop between the teams. Seattle could be another team that hits its peak in a similar timeframe as the Pride and become playoff rivals.
