To celebrate the new rookies, team captains, and upcoming season, the Main Timber made a trip to the local axe throwing emporium for some fun team building activities. The team captains got to go first. Captains Dogwood Maple and Sean Gatez did quite well, but Puddles O’Duck had a difficult time getting a good grip on his axe on account of not having any fingers on his wings (don’t ask me how he grips his stick!) All of us rookies did ok and had a good time. I personally accomplished my goal of not injuring or maiming any teammates. There was some excitement when goalie Bigga Foryu asked for a bigger axe as the ones provided were a bit small for the big meaty paws he calls hands. Somehow, this all ended with Foryu chasing fellow goalie Bloody Oath around with his axe muttering something about “pokechecking is an art you know nothing about” but the team was able to calm him down for someone got hurt or the police were called. Goalies sure are a different breed! Anyways, the team had a good time and got to know each other a little better, but I think next time we’ll stick with something that doesn’t involve sharp edges.
