Miguel Hefeweizen is having the time of his life so far in the SMJHL. Of course, it was a big adjustment moving from Vienna, Austria to Portland, Maine. Vienna itself has as many people as the entire state of Maine, so going from a highly urban area to one that is much more suburban and rural in comparison was a big change, not to mention the culture shock of “coming to America!” That said, Miguel loves it in Portland and has already found several great breweries with awesome beer. Unfortunately, he has not found a decent Mexican restaurant so far, and maybe never will. The Timber have an awesome locker room and great managers, and Miguel has made friends with a lot of his teammates. Unfortunately, Miguel hasn’t done great on the ice, with no goals or assists and only 7 shots on goal. With so many rookies the Timber aren’t expected to do very well this season, but currently they are 2-2. Miguel hopes that as he gets more ice time he’ll improve and can contribute more to the team!
