Around St Louis, the only storyline anyone will be talking about this season is the trade of last season’s 1OA pick in the J Draft, Jean-Locke Zidane!
Zidane was a rookie standout in his first season with the St Louis Scarecrows and picked up an incredible 29 points (5G, 24A), which is an astounding return for a rookie defenseman. He added another 5 in the Playoffs, to cap an outstanding rookie season with the ‘Crows. Zidane’s request to leave shocked a lot of the locker room in St Louis. It may have been less shocking if it had been done in the off-season, but he had played through an, admittedly less than sparkling, pre-season with the Scarecrows and taken to the ice for their opening few games of the regular season, before their GM announced that the Frenchman was moving to Anchorage to join the Armada, the defending Four Star Cup champions. The move is described as the player looking for a change of scenery, but it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that he may feel that his performance level is such that he should be challenging for Cups, rather than being on a team that was ecstatic to make it past the first round. With Anchorage, he will certainly have a good shot at helping them defend their title! |
