In order to appeal to the audience that wants more violence in hockey the SHL has decided to give the players a choice, they can go onto the ice with a hockey stick, or a baseball bat. If they choose the stick the standard rules apply, they use it to hit the puck and try to score, but if they pick the baseball bat they can't use it to hit the puck, they can only use it to hit other players. Teams will have to decide how many batters and how many regular skaters they will have on the ice, it takes line matching to a whole new level, when the other team puts out 3 batters you better counter with 3 of your own or risk being beaten down to a pulp. Sure injuries will be up, and concussions will be a massive concern, but it's all in good fun.
