With the SHL getting picked up by NBCSN a few tweaks have been added to the game to draw in more viewers. The first being the introduction of money pucks and negative pucks. Money pucks will be worth either two or three points depending on the color of the puck on the ice. The negative puck will take away 1 goal from the opposing team unless it is a short handed goal then two points will be taken from the opposing teams score. The network hopes to increase scoring by giving players a higher incentive with the potential of scoring multiple goals on one shot. In addition to the new pucks they hope to change how man advantages work. Teams on the power play have the option of either sending an opposing player to the penalty box or the team on the power play can add an additional skater to their power play for a six on five opportunity. On double minors and game misconduct penalties teams are allowed to send a player to the box and add an extra skater to their power play unit.
