Going back to S47, Vancouver has had a rivalry with Halifax (aka Maine) to the point where the locker room motto was "at least we aren't Halifax." This rivalry isn't as strong anymore due to the rearrangement of divisions and conferences, so I'd have to say Vancouver's biggest rival are the Anchorage Armada and their stinky head GM @Gwdjohnson . Although most of the players on their roster are cool people, @Gwdjohnson really brings down the value of everyone else.

GM aside, meeting Anchorage in the playoffs for many seasons before the rearrangement and being in the same division after the rearrangement, has lead to the teams having a bad taste for each other for a while and has lead to a lot of physical matches against each other.

So, even though it's very hard to pick a single rival for the Whalers, I definitely think it would have to be the Anchorage Armada, or @Gwdjohnson , more specifically.
