(GRADED)Deep Dive #2 - S60 TPE vs Draft Position Analysis

In the SHL and sim leagues in general, TPE is not the only thing that teams focus on to decide who to draft. Another important thing to consider is the user behind the player, how they can contribute to the locker room culture, and overall team fit and need. However, I am going to be taking a look at how the rookies are earning compared to their draft position vs other rookies. I will be trying to find potential steals, and possible overdrafts based on earning, not the user behind the player so I will probably be wrong!

The top of the class is really tight in terms of TPE, seeing that between 1 and 20 there is only a 25 TPE difference. The first player who stands out to me as a mega-steal in terms of earning is Jonathon Hagan. Hagan was drafted to the Anaheim Outlaws with the first pick of the fourth round, 37th overall. However, he is 8th in terms of TPE in the class with 289 which is only 11 away from the top earner. I am not sure what the rest of the league was thinking letting a top tier earner fall that far, but Anaheim got an absolute steal with a first round talent in the fourth round.

I know faded is a fantastic user and was well worth the pick for his draft position and is more than just his earning, but Nikolai Ayerzov looks like he might have been overdrafted in terms of earning when looking at it at the surface. Drafted 14th overall to the St. Louis Scarecrows, Ayerzov is actually tied for 39th in the class in terms of TPE with 248. He is not earning at a fantastic rate so far that might be expected of basically the value of a first round pick, and it might end up seeing that the Scarecrows wish they had taken Jonathan Hagan at this spot instead. Again, I could not make it any clearer that faded is a fantastic user from the ISFL who I have a lot of respect and admiration for, so this is not a slight against him.

As a member of the Kraken it does pain me to say it, but the Anaheim Outlaws absolutely hit an out of the park home run with this draft. First off, the Outlaws have 3 of the top 10 earners in the class with High Haschdi (3), Stan Din'desque (7), and Jonathan Hagan (8). Din'desque was the first overall pick and is living up to it in terms of his earning. Haschdi was one of the best value picks of the entire draft as the 15th overall pick in the draft and somehow falling to the second round. Hagan is absolutely the steal of the draft as a 4th round pick but turning into a top 10 earner. Not only does this Outlaws class have top end talent, they also have depth. Daniel Merica Jr. and Zhen Roza were both picks at the end of the second round, and they are 27th and 34th in TPE respectively so they are proving they can be a part of the Outlaw's future. Anaheim also have 2 UDFAs in Tomas Kalnoky and Rob Ford who are near the end of the class, but are definitely contributing.

Thanks for reading!

Approved, +5 TPE for @negs77
