Erik Chisling Bio: Erik Chisling was drafted in the second round 13th overall in the season 5 draft by the newly found franchise the Los Angeles Panthers. While selected early and high expectations on his shoulders Chisling did not find immediate success. That did not mean it did not come for Erik, the very next season with a surprise trade to the Manhattan Rage he exploded, and during his time there he twice capturing the Scott Stevens Award. While individual success was great Chisling wanted something more and he dreamed of winning the greatest award in the SHL. Giving up his co-GM position Erik orchestrated a trade to become a part of the powerhouse Calgary Dragons, the trade was made during the end of the playoff run to Calgary’s first Challenge Cup and that only heated Chisling’s desire. While his next season in Calgary was not the same as his offensive performances in Manhattan he found a more complete two way game. With the combination of the best regular season record in SHL history the Calgary Dragons went on to win their second cup in two seasons and Chisling’s first and only of his career. The final seasons for Chisling showed he still had enough to compete against the best in the league as the Dragons made one more run to the Challenge cup finals before falling short in game 5. Chisling will always be remembered for his time in Manhattan when he was on top of his game, but here in Calgary we will never forget the efforts made by the first Dragon to reach the SHL Hall of Fame. |
