As other have said, re-sims should be a last resort for very grave mistakes OR something that gets used if one team gets severely disavantaged over another due to a simmer mistake, by putting in the wrong goalie for example. This was not a serious enough screw-up to warrant such a drastic measure imho, as the mistake both had a rather small effect in general and also impacted everyone more or less equally. The damage that is caused by teams and individual players losing some of their accomplishments from the first sim which leads to them losing trust in the process is bigger than the damage we would have had playing on a file that was not updated last week.

If anything, this should serve as a cautionary tale for the future: Let people know that it's not a good idea to save up for one big pre-playoff update because next time something like this happens, there won't be a re-sim. And either way, how many of these cases actually existed this time in the first place?
