Hey y’all! As the playoffs come to a close and the offseason approaches, the time draws closer to the transition to FHM8 as our primary sim engine. As some of you may know, this upgrade will introduce engine changes as well as a new way to visualize games and see where the players are on the ice during sims. For us on the dev team, though, this upgrade is a super exciting change because the OOTP devs finally decided to give us more data to work with.
Ok, so how does this affect you? I mean of course they can track more statistics and all, but that isn’t too exciting. Well, I am here to tell you that we finally have access to boxscores. Yes. This finally means no more having to screenshot sims and post them in your locker rooms just to see how your player performs on a game-by-game basis. No more searching through the locker room to find the screenshot of that one game where your player decided to score a hat trick or get a 80 save shutout. This is real big! Now for a disclaimer: FHM is notoriously buggy and anyone who is in the SHL dev server on discord (specifically @grok and @DrunkenTeddy ) can tell you that for every great thing that we get from FHM, there is an equally annoying bug or issue with the csv exports that we have to deal with. So unfortunately, as of right now we do not have a way to get shootout data for games (but we are working on bugging the devs to add it to the exports). Anyway, now on to the part you all want to see, the pictures. Right off the bat this all should look very familiar. Why? Because I shamelessly ripped the design right from the NHL website. For legal reasons, this is all still my code and I only make fake hockey money from this. As for the data that we have access to, right off the bat it is clear that we have faceoff data! So now, for seasons simmed on FHM8, players will have their faceoff stats visible on the players page as well as boxscore pages. For the boxscore page, hovering over the faceoff percentage will show you more fine-grained details about how many faceoffs you won out of total taken. Moving down the page we see the period-by-period penalty data. We have access to each penalty name as well as the names of the offenders. Finally, we include info on 3 stars as well as period-by-period shot totals, which is pretty cool. That about does it for the first update in a series of several (as long as I decide to make posts for the other major changes that are coming out) that I will put out as we finish our preparations for the FHM8 transition on the dev side of things. Thanks for reading! Code: word count: 530 Pass Forfeit (D) ● Player Profile
