The Retro Classic!

Now just what the devil is a "Retro Classic" you might ask? Well it's a chance to bring back the good ol' days of the SHL - where the sims were made up and the TPE didn't matter. But really its a chance to see your old favorites back on the ice and back in the action. The Retro Classic is a one-off exhibition game where YOU the users get to sign up a legendary (or not) player of yesteryear to make an appearance in a live simmed game using Franchise Hockey Manager 8. Have you ever wanted to see Jason Visser and Martijn Westbroek match up against Alonzo Garbanzo and Cleo Green? How about picturing your own player playing with those greats!

Here's how it works. Users sign up a player, can be their own, or even someone else's. Only one player per user, but multiple people can enter the same player. The name of the game is retro, which means only retired SHLers are eligible for the Classic. And I do mean SHLers... no career SMJHL players allowed either. Sorry. The entries are randomly chosen to take a spot on the roster for one of our two woke and bespoke teams:

The formidable Max Earners, and the infamous Multis.



Once all the spots - typical SHL roster size - are full, that's it. Then, there will be a vote held probably in SHL Discussion to decide who will be the captain of each team. Choose wisely. Or don't.

Game day is TBD, sometime this month. Gotta figure out my schedule first.

If there is a good amount of interest in the game, there may be future Retro Classics to come featuring all new rosters so we can see more of those geezers out there on the ice.
