I think the salary cap is definitely needed but I also believe it needs to be ever changing because having a pretty standard rate over a long period of time is rough on a lot of teams. It cap straps a lot of teams after the market has been reset so many times and the salaries just keep going up. Ideally it would be changing like every 4-5 seasons in my opinion, adjusting to what the market is looking like at the moment. As far as removing it thats a no go from me from the very start. Even as a fan of a team who generally spends lots of money it would set the league in a position where only the top market teams win everything and the lower teams would need some ungodly drafting, and retention of those stars, to have a shot. Those top market teams would just throw money at every problem. So it is generally a good thing for parity, somewhat.
