All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (really, if you wanna be sad and touched by pain, go read anything from Celeste Ng)
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
Best reads of the year (2022)
Mistborn trilogy by BrandoSando
She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan
THE SECOND REBEL BY LINDEN A FUCKING LEWIS--the 3rd book comes out NEXT WEEK and I describe this as Handmaid's Tale meets Red Rising BUT MAKE IT SO MUCH QUEERER. This book made me sit staring at a wall for 15 minutes contemplating what I'd just experienced and being pissed I couldn't reread it right away.
The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle -- time-travely murder mystery. Groundhog Day meets Agatha Christie.
My Current TBR
Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr (currently reading)
Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson (I've seen PB talk about it--it's been chilling for a few weeks)
Stormlight Archive (I'll get there)
Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse
The Last Hero (aforementioned 3rd book by Linden A Lewis)
The Poppy War or Babel, whenever I can get my hands on a copy that isn't $30
The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter (he's another bloodydamn Howler, folks!)
Worst book of the year: The Last Shadow by Orson Scott Card. Don't read it, don't do it. Save yourself.
I did not know Orson was still writing the Ender series but I'm sad to hear it's garbage.
“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”
