The Detroit Falcons are hoping to start off the S73 SMJHL season strong after a disappointing end to last year. This time, they have three key factors added at the draft who will hopefully boost the team back into the hunt for the Four Star Cup.
Their highest pick this draft at second overall, Will Tomlander, is a scoring left winger who slots immediately into their second line, and so far has gone for a game per goal with a sky high shooting percentage. Most likely unsustainable, but a welcome improvement over the lackluster offense last year. SIMO JÄÄSKELÄINEN, their second pick in the draft at 13th overall in the first round, is a defensive defenseman that they hope will protect the crease and clear out opposing forwards to let their star goalie Wayne Holloway see the incoming pucks. Holloway has proven that he can take on the heavy workload, but this addition hopefully lightens the shot volume against him a bit and lets Holloway concentrate on the high danger chances. Emil Karlsson, their third pick in the draft at 16th overall, is a two way center who looks to boost the third line for the Falcons with his 200 foot game on the ice. This helps to shore up the third line which was not great last year, and allows for better line matching from the coaching staff against other teams in the league. ![]() ![]() |
