I know you hit on it a bit, but minors performance really doesn't translate to the SHL level. It's a different set of GM's and a different scale as a whole since you don't have things like TPE caps to worry about. Drafting in the SHL is about longevity as well as personality. You're looking for someone you hope builds their player for 2/3 years as well as someone that the rest of the team wants to be around. With the randomness built into the sim, you can't bank on any player performing at the level they are expected to, but you can typically bank on someone's LR fit. 

A good article overall, just don't put too much stock into one J season when it comes to the SHL draft.
